y = 2x -5

y= -3x + 1

Here both the equations are in y = mx + b

where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

y =2x -5, the slope = 2  and b intercept = -5

y= -3x + 1, the slope = -3  and b intercept = +1

Both the equations have different slope. So there should be a single solution
