In making spores meiosis process is used by the saprophyte cells. Each spore goes through meiotic division to form multi cellular haploid gametophyte. the saprophyte are formed due to combination of two gametes  

The spores can be developed into new organisms with the help of meiotic division under its favorable conditions.
