2x + 3y = 6 . . . . . . . . (1)
x + y = 4 . . . . . . . . (2)
(2) x 2: 2x + 2y = 8 . . . . (3)
(1) - (3): y = -2
x - 2 = 4
x = 6
Therefore x = 6 and y = -2
